Release Notes: TOP Version 6.2

These notes describe new features in TOP 6.02
They also discuss the TOP interface with PASS and
SuperHarm.

v6.02
========
1 - Updated for compatibility with EMTDC/PSCAD V3 & V4.
2 - Added menu and toolbar item for quick access to customizable
    chart properties.

v6.01
========
1 - Included latest chagnes to PQDIF library files.

v6.00
========
1 - Fixed error in reading Comtrade binary files.
2 - Fixed several errors in reading Comtrade header files.
3 - Now using Comtrade 1999 standard for output.
4 - Changed the PQDIF load dialog. The new dialog allows for
    the possible channels to be displayed in a hierarchical form.
5 - Automatically load the Plot Quantity Select dialog for
    PQDIF files with only one observation present. All
    channels will be loaded.
6 - Fixed several PQDIF read errors.
7 - PNG Export is now performed in the graphics package.
8 - Graphics package limits stacked graph to 6 quantities.

v5.00.11
========

1 - Fixed identification of fundamental frequency in
    the harmonic spectra summary. This now comes from
    TOP options, or the replacement value entered in
    the SuperHarm stack loading dialog.

2 - Plotted bar widths now based on the smallest
    scanned interval between data points.

v5.00.10
========

1 - Fixed problem reading Comtrade files with no
    defined sample rates.

2 - Implemented time multiplier for Comtrade files.

3 - Preferentially use the sample rates over time
    stamps in Comtrade files.

v5.00.09
========

1 - Fixed precision of time scale for trend plots
    with short sample intervals.

2 - Added a probability scale option for X axis.

3 - Added error message when FFT or DFT fails because
    of zero time difference between first two data
    points.

4 - Improved warning messages for Text-to-PQDIF
    utility, fixed problem with allowed independent
    variable characteristics.

5 - Allow comment lines at the beginning of the
    text input files for Text-to-PQDIF utility.
    Comment lines begin with //

v5.00.08
========

1 - Added options to the Edit/Preferences dialog for
    harmonic summary tables:

    a - highest harmonic order to show

    b - whether to show even harmonics

    Note: these do not affect summary statistics
    like the total rms and total distortion.

v5.00.07
========

1 - Increased the precision of CSV export from 6 digits
    to 9 digits.

v5.00.06
========

1 - Reads binary Comtrade files.

2 - Added a Stack/Refresh menu command and toolbar
    button. This reloads all stack objects from new
    files on the disk, and updates any open graphs
    and tables. Graph zoom state and text labels
    are not changed.

    a - Only implemented for EMTP/ATP, EMTDC,
        SuperHarm, and SuperTran (includes EPRI
        LPDW and SDWorkstation plot files).

    b - ATP frequency scan outputs do not refresh
        properly. Normally, you will get magnitude
        on the initial load and phase on the
        refresh.

    c - SuperHarm refresh assumes individual source
        mode and calculated fundamental mode.

3 - Changes to PQDIF import for better support of
    Signature System PQD files:

    a - More descriptive error and warning messages.
        Each type of message is limited to appearing
        once per file load, so the file may have
        more errors of the same type.

    b - Will read PQD files with multiple container
        records.

    c - No order dependence on the series definitions.

4 - Fixed the PQDIF export tag for phase angles.

5 - Using the new ID_QC_TRANSFERFUNC tag to import and
    export SCAN objects as distinct from SPEC objects.

6 - Added a warning message (once per file load) if
    attempting to load a stack object with duplicate
    name.

7 - The harmonic summary table now displays fundamental
    frequency in Hz rather than per-unit.

8 - Fixed the display of SuperHarm current outputs
    with a period (.) in the base name.

9 - Updated Web links on the Help menu.

10 - File/Associations menu command added to link
     output extensions with TOP after installation.

    a - Use this to restore the PQD extension link
        after installing DranView 5.

    b - You may link the *.inf extension for EMTDC
        output, but use caution because *.inf is
        normally associated with setup information
        files.

11 - Fixed the color palette in exported PNG files
     for 3D histograms.

12 - Changes to the Text-to-PQDIF utility:

    a - Correct the trigger channel indices when
        the first data column is time.

    b - Display CSV file filter first in the Add
        dialog.

    c - Exports with new ID_EQUIP_ETK_TEXTPQDIF tag.

v5.00.03
========

1 - Fixed problems with EMTDC files of less than
    100 points, or that have titles beginning with
    a number.

v5.00.02
========

1 - Support Mag-Dur export from Text-to-PQDIF
    utility.

2 - PQDIF import fixes:

    a - skip invalid time stamps
    b - skip invalid trigger information
    c - fix memory overrun with some trend gaps

v5.00.01
========

1 - Binary calculator operations now work
    properly when the two stack objects have
    incompatible time (or X) values.

2 - New Stack/Expression menu command to
    create stack objects from typed in
    expressions. See help file for examples.

3 - Waveform sampling operation in the
    calculator.

4 - New options in the Preferences dialog
    a - background (CBEMA, ITIC, etc.) curve
        for magnitude-duration plots
    b - option for null data gap handling in
        trend plots, similar to PQWeb 2.2
    c - toggle between seconds and date/time
        stamps in exported trend CSV files

5 - Support for 3D magnitude-duration
    histograms downloaded from PQWeb.

6 - Plots a vertical line at the trigger time
    for stack objects loaded from PQDIF files.

7 - Exports PQDIF files.

8 - Exports a config file for use with the
    Text-to-PQDIF utility.

9 - Option to auto-generate RMS traces from
    transient waveforms in the Text-to-PQDIF
    utility output.

10 - All of the file loading dialog list boxes
     now follow the standard Windows extended
     selection mechanism, with Ctrl-Click and
     Shift-Click.

11 - More combinations of stack object types
     with calculator operations are allowed.

12 - Revised table column names for time and
     frequency domain data points, when the
     first object is not WAVE, SCAN, or SPEC.

SuperHarm Integration
=====================

You must run TOP manually one time before
it will launch from the SuperHarm or SuperTran
toolbar.

PASS Integration
================

To use TOP with PASS 3.2, use the Edit/
Preferences menu command in PASS, then click the
Paths button. For the path to TOP, enter the
installed location of top32.exe, for example:

  c:\progra~1\electr~1\top\top32.exe

Note that you must use the ~ contractions for
long path names with embedded blanks, because
PASS is a 16-bit program. The example shown
above is the default location for installing
TOP, but on your machine, the proper shortcut
entered into the PASS dialog may include electr~2
rather than electr~1.

If you copy-and-paste more than one graph from
PASS, the TOP software will superimpose all
voltages on one graph, all currents on another
graph, and any other data (eg., temperature)
on separate graphs.

As a side effect of PASS integration, TOP
will not launch if the older 16-bit version of
TOP is running. This is because TOP must
use the same window class name, so that PASS
can find a running copy of TOP.

Data Conversion Utilities
=========================

A data conversion utility for Dranetz 656A, 657,
and 658 instruments has been copied to the TOP
application directory.  This program, ascii65x.exe,
should be run from a DOS prompt.

Another data conversion utility for PQDIF files
is installed with TOP. This converts comma-
delimited text files, in a tabular layout, to
PQDIF.

Support and Updates
===================

You may obtain free updates to TOP, including
sample files and a PDF version of the manual,
from www.pqsoft.com/TOP.
